About Us

Hi and welcome to Gone Camping UK!

profileMy name is Dom and I am an outdoor enthusiast keen on adventure sports, camping, hiking and general outdoor activities. I spent the majority of my holidays early in my life in hot countries where I searched for the two S’s, Sun and Sea! The majority of these holidays were spent in nice hotels or on resorts, not really taking in the natural surroundings and culture. It was during my time spent at University that I started to holiday in the UK, exploring  Scotland, England and Wales and taking in the fantastic opportunities on offer.

I know how hard it can be to sacrifice your luxury holiday abroad for a camping holiday in Britain. Many people are skeptical about the benefits but honestly there are some real campsite gems out there, you just need to know how to find them. Camping can be a really rewarding experience with many unique benefits but unfortunately many first time campers experience problems that put them off right from the word go.

My aim is to make this blog a hub for camping advice. I want to help first time campers avoid the common pitfalls of camping and learn to appreciate the unique benefits on offer. Proposed areas for advice include but are definitely not limited to:

  1. Preparation  – What do you need to do before you hop in the car and drive to your campsite?
  2. Setting Up – You have arrived at the site, now what?
  3. Cooking – An important area for most campers!
  4. Activities – What can you do when your not in your tent?
  5. Sepcial Considerations – Potential issues you may face when camping
  6. Tips for Success – Experienced campers reveal the tricks that make camping that little bit easier
  7. Where to go – Campsite reviews and recommendations for the UK
